Four become one in Derek Crescenti’s virtuosic new dance that premiered in October 2024 at the University of Washington’s Meany Studio Theatre.

The score, performed by Rob Berman, is written for solo piano and electronics. The electronic accompaniment is built entirely from sounds produced from the piano that have been shredded, processed and reassembled into new textures that duet and dialogue with the soloist. In this way, like the title of the dance suggests, the music is a coming together of sounds and ideas that all emerged from the same source.
